About XTR Decking

dasso.XTR® is a strand-woven bamboo composite compressed under high heat and pressure to reach a density above 1150 kg/m³

Developed in 2006 and on the market since 2008, XTR (known in China as "High-Durability") ended the era when bamboo was confined to indoor use. The process decomposes the sugars and starches inside the bamboo fibre cells, eliminating the environment fungi and mould need to survive — solving decay at its source, not at the surface. Far beyond simple deep- or light-carbonisation, it runs through dozens of controlled steps and is patented in Europe, the Americas and Asia. Awarded the Second Prize of the Chinese National Science and Technology Progress Award, XTR has since performed reliably on over a thousand projects across every climate worldwide.

Microscope views of dasso XTR® bamboo cells: before the thermo treatment the cells are still filled with sugars and starches, the food source for mould and fungi. After thermal treatment those nutrients are decomposed, leaving no breeding ground for decay.
