How to install a bamboo deck

The five rules that decide whether a deck stays flat and safe for decades.

  1. 01

    Ventilate underneath

Leave at least 30 mm of free air below the boards and keep the perimeter open. A deck that cannot breathe will cup.

  2. 02

    Drain the water

Give the substructure a 1 to 2 % fall away from the building. Never let water stand under the boards.

  3. 03

    Respect the spacing

Joist spacing follows board length: 462.5 mm for 1850 mm boards, 507 mm for 3040/3050 mm boards in residential use, and 434 mm for those lengths in public use.

  4. 04

    Leave the gaps

5 mm between boards with the clip system, 8 to 10 mm at the perimeter and against any fixed element.

  5. 05

    Maintain

Clean once or twice a year, and oil or saturate if you want to keep the original tone.
