History

  1. 1992

    Laminated bamboo

dasso industrialises glued-laminated bamboo (700 kg/m³) — the first structural use of the plant.

  2. 1993

    Foundation

The Group begins its journey in industrial bamboo and becomes one of the earliest bamboo flooring manufacturers in Asia.

  3. 2000–02

    Raising brand awareness

Visibility grows beyond the region with major European projects such as Madrid-Barajas Airport and the Mercedes-Benz HQ in Stuttgart.

  4. 2006

    Densified strand woven

Invention of compressed strand-woven bamboo — density jumps to 1,150–1,200 kg/m³.

  5. 2010

    dassoXTR® goes to market

The thermally fused (Fused Bamboo®) exterior strand-woven range is commercialised worldwide.

  6. 2010–15

    Sustainable expansion

Eco-design becomes core brand DNA; strategic cooperation with IKEA sets up the global bamboo R&D centre.

  7. 2015–20

    Recognition

Two National Awards for Technological Invention and a global presence at exhibitions and conferences.

  8. 2017

    dassoCTECH®

Ceramic impregnation (CeramiX®) is invented — mineral crystallisation inside the fibre.

  9. 2022–today

    New horizons

dassoCTECH PLUS is released and, in 2023, dasso Europe opens to serve the western market directly.

Two ways to engineer bamboo

From glued-laminated beams to extreme-density strand woven boards — the same raw moso culm, two industrial routes.

Laminated bamboo

since 1992

700 kg/m³

Moso culms are split into flat slats, stabilised, then glued and hot-pressed into solid blanks — horizontally (plain-pressed) or on edge (side-pressed) — before being machined into beams and profiles.

Densified strand woven

since 2006

1200 kg/m³

The same culms are crushed into long fibre strands, treated, then compressed under extreme pressure and heat. The fibres interlock into a board almost twice as dense as tropical hardwood.

Our two exterior ranges

dassoXTR®

Invented in 2010

Thermal treatment (Fused Bamboo®)

  • Carbonisation : Heated to 200 °C, sugars removed (anti-insect / anti-mould).
  • Compression : High density — 1150 kg/m³.
  • Result : Espresso tone.

dassoCTECH®

Invented in 2017

Ceramic impregnation (CeramiX®)

  • Crystallisation : Impregnation with a combination of minerals.
  • Extreme density : 1200 kg/m³.
  • Result : Caramel / Ipe tone.
